On Monday 12 April, the Prime Minister David Cameron came to Alnwick, Northumberland and surprised a few local businesses with a visit. Turnbull’s of Alnwick a family run butchers established over 150 years ago and ran by 5th generation butcher Mark Turnbull, had the pleasure in meeting the PM in the Market Street store.
After the visit, Mark Turnbull said: “It was a bit of a surprise, it is not what you expect to happen on a Monday morning in Alnwick. It was a real honour that he bought the sausage. I recommended the Northumberland sausage, which is made with local pork and flavoured with Northumberland honey, Lindisfarne Mead and herbs. It was a great privilege to have the Prime Minister in the shop. It has all been a bit of a whirlwind.”
